Moving From Lubbock To El Paso?
El Paso sits about 340 miles southwest of our home base, a straight shot down US-62/180 through the oil patch and past the Guadalupe Mountains, so we serve it as scheduled long-distance work rather than quick local runs. That means your move gets planned right: a free written estimate up front that covers the travel, a confirmed date, and a crew that arrives ready to work. Long-Distance Moving From Lubbock to El Paso, Texas
Why we love El Paso, Texas
El Paso is one of a kind, and we mean that as West Texans who have seen a lot of Texas. The Franklin Mountains run right through the middle of the city, the Star on the Mountain has been shining above Scenic Drive since 1940, and downtown still has the Plaza Theatre standing handsome since 1930. Fort Bliss anchors the economy, UTEP fills the Sun Bowl on fall Saturdays, and the Mission Trail out through Ysleta, Socorro, and San Elizario holds more history than most whole states. Add in some of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in Texas out east toward Horizon City, and it’s easy to see why people keep moving here.
To appreciate El Paso, it helps to know the history that shaped it — because this city was a crossroads long before Texas was Texas, and that story still shows in its streets, its missions, and its people.

Early Settlement
The story starts in 1598, when Juan de Oñate’s expedition reached the Rio Grande and named the crossing El Paso del Norte — the Pass of the North. In 1659, Fray García de San Francisco founded the Guadalupe Mission on the south bank of the river, in what is now Ciudad Juárez, and it still stands as the oldest structure in the region. A lasting settlement on the north bank — the Texas side — didn’t take root until after 1827. El Paso was incorporated as a city in 1873, gathering up the small river communities of Magoffinsville, Concordia, and Hart’s Mill, with a population you could have fit in a couple of church pews.
Railroad and Border Crossroads
Everything changed in 1881, when the Southern Pacific, Texas and Pacific, and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroads all arrived, and a remote river town boomed to around 10,000 people by 1890. Fort Bliss, established as a frontier post in 1849, grew alongside the city and remains one of the largest Army installations in the country. Today the Paso del Norte region’s ports of entry handle nearly a fifth of all trade between the United States and Mexico, keeping El Paso what the railroads made it: a working crossroads. Trade, the military, health care, and education drive the economy now, but the crossroads character has never changed.
Community Spirit
El Paso is a school town three times over, with El Paso ISD, Ysleta ISD, and Socorro ISD together educating a small city’s worth of kids — Socorro ISD alone serves more than 47,000 students at campuses like Montwood, Americas, Eastlake, and Pebble Hills, while the Ysleta Indians carry one of the oldest school traditions in the region. On fall Saturdays the UTEP Miners play in the Sun Bowl, the stadium in the foothills of the Franklins, and the Sun Bowl game itself is tied as the second-oldest college bowl game in America. And every night the Star on the Mountain lights up over the city, a tradition going back to 1940. People here show up for their schools, their teams, and each other.
Modern El Paso
Modern El Paso counted 678,815 people at the 2020 census, making it one of the largest cities in Texas and the anchor of a binational metro shared with Ciudad Juárez. Fort Bliss is the metro area’s largest employer, UTEP keeps growing, and new neighborhoods are filling in fast on the Eastside and out toward Horizon City. Families move here for the jobs, the sunshine, the mountain views, and a cost of living that lets a paycheck stretch. It’s a big city that still feels like a hometown, and that’s a rare thing.

Lubbock to El Paso Moving — Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few answers to common questions we get from our customers. If you have any more questions — don’t hesitate to give us a call!
You're called Lubbock Moving Company — do you really handle moves in El Paso?
We do, and it’s a regular part of our work. El Paso sits about 340 miles from our Lubbock base, a straight run down US-62/180 through Seminole, Hobbs, and Carlsbad, so we handle it as scheduled long-distance service rather than same-day local hops.
Day to day, that means we set your move date in advance, plan the drive into the job, and send a full crew with the truck, pads, dollies, straps, and shrink wrap. We hold statewide authority under TXDMV #009155382C, so moving anywhere in Texas — including El Paso — is exactly what we’re licensed to do.
Does the distance from Lubbock make my El Paso move cost more or take longer?
We’ll be straight with you: 340 miles is a real drive, so El Paso moves run as scheduled long-distance jobs on a flat-rate basis, not as daily local runs. The good news is that the travel is built into your free written estimate before we ever load a box, so the number you see up front is the number you pay — no fuel surprises, no hidden fees tacked on after the fact.
Once we’re on site, the work moves at the same pace as any local job, whether that’s a house off Transmountain in the Northeast or a new build near Pebble Hills on the Eastside. The distance affects scheduling, not quality.
How far ahead do I need to book, and can you handle short notice?
For El Paso, the more lead time the better, since long-distance runs get scheduled onto the calendar in advance — a couple of weeks of notice usually gives you your pick of dates. That said, we can often make same-week moves work, and around Lubbock we sometimes even pull off same-day.
If your closing date just moved up or your lease surprised you, call us at 806-855-8427 anyway. West Texas moves rarely go according to plan, and we’ve built our schedule to flex when yours does.
I'm moving between El Paso and Lubbock — is that a move you do a lot?
That corridor is home turf for us in both directions. Students heading to Texas Tech, soldiers and families coming or going from Fort Bliss, folks chasing jobs between the two cities — we’ve carried all of them down US-62/180, past the Guadalupe Mountains and through Carlsbad, more times than we can count.
Because one end of the move is literally our backyard, the logistics are simple: one crew, one truck, one written flat-rate quote covering the whole trip. Your belongings ride with the same team from your old front door to your new one.
Can you move me from El Paso to other parts of Texas, like Austin or Dallas?
Yes — our long-distance service covers anywhere in Texas on a flat-rate basis, and with El Paso sitting at the far western tip of the state, most moves out of town qualify. Whether you’re headed to Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or a small town nobody outside your family has heard of, we quote the whole job in writing before we start.
We also carry federal authority under USDOT #3426928 alongside our state license, so the paperwork side of a long haul is fully covered. One crew loads you in El Paso and the same crew unloads you at the other end.
Are you actually licensed and insured for a move like this?
Fully. We’re licensed with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles as TXDMV #009155382C, which covers moves anywhere in the state, and we hold federal operating authority under USDOT #3426928. We’re insured as well, so your belongings are protected from the moment the crew starts wrapping furniture in El Paso.
You can verify both numbers yourself through the TXDMV and FMCSA websites — we’d rather you check than wonder. After 15-plus years serving West Texas, being easy to verify is part of how we do business.
Your crews are from Lubbock — will they know their way around El Paso?
They will, because we plan every El Paso job before the truck leaves Lubbock. Our crews have worked the Westside and the tree-lined streets of Kern Place, the Upper Valley along the Rio Grande, the fast-growing Eastside neighborhoods near Joe Battle Boulevard, and out to Horizon City past Loop 375.
El Paso’s layout takes some knowing — I-10 threads through the middle of town, Transmountain Drive cuts through the Franklins, and access can be tight in older districts near downtown. We scout the route, the parking, and the unload ahead of time so moving day isn’t the crew’s first look at your street.
What does full-service actually include, and how do I get a quote?
Full-service means we handle the whole job: packing and unpacking if you want it, loading, the drive, and unloading at your new place. The crew brings the truck, furniture pads, dollies, straps, and shrink wrap, so you don’t need to rent or buy a thing — and if you just need muscle for a truck you’ve already got, we offer moving labor help too.
Getting a quote is one phone call: 806-855-8427. We’ll ask about both addresses, your dates, and what’s moving, then give you a free written estimate with everything spelled out — no hidden fees. We take cash and all major credit cards.
